Copper River Salmon are famous in Alaska for the quality. That is to say, there’s not a specific species of salmon native only to the Copper River, but generally the catch from that river is very high quality Silver Salmon, which many regard as the very best of the Pacific varieties, and some regard as superior to Atlantic Salmon, as well. In other words, Copper River Salmon is a designation given to the highest quality, rather like Champagne as opposed to sparkling wine.
